MIMA Ad Lib

Hi Friends!

This month’s edition of MIMA Ad Lib, in partnership with the The Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative, will take place next week via Zoom on 5.11.20 at 7:30 PM EST and we'd love to have you!

We had a blast last time despite being in separate spaces and we invite you all to take part in an evening of sound exploration.

For those who haven't experienced our monthly workshop, here is a little description of what you might expect:

Every month, MIMA Teaching Artists will facilitate an experiential demo, for adults, of MIMA's collaborative music making approach usually reserved for younger folks.

This month, the very extremely wonderful Kittie Cooper will lead us. Kittie is a MIMA teaching artist, composer, performer, and educator based in Charlottesville, who also enjoys reading ghost stories and taking care of the stray cats in her neighborhood.

Using adapted MIMA games and activities, we'll sling sounds around the (Zoom) room and see what sticks. Think you don't know how to improvise or aren't allowed to because you don't play an instrument and can't sing and have no formal training? Or, are you a seasoned shredder who is looking to workshop new approaches in your practice? Either way, this monthly series is for you!
